The Loire Valley, Its wines, and their correct wine serving temperatures

The Loire Valley is one of the most famous wine regions in France. The region is known for its white wines, which are made from Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The Loire Valley is also home to some of the oldest vineyards in the world.

The history of wine production in the Loire Valley dates to the Roman era. Wine was first grown in the region by the Celts, and it later became an important part of French culture, the first recorded mention of wine from the Loire Valley was in 995 AD. 

Wine production in the Loire Valley continued to grow throughout the Middle Ages and Renaissance. By the 17th century, the region was responsible for about a third of all the wine produced in France.

The Loire Valley remained an important wine region throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. However, the region was hit hard by the phylloxera epidemic in the late 19th century, and many vineyards were destroyed.

Today, the Loire Valley is once again one of the most important wine regions in France. The region produces a wide variety of wines, including reds, whites, and sparkling wines. The Loire Valley is also home to some of the world’s most famous wineries, such as Château de la Tour and Domaine des Comtes Lafon. To have these wines shine, make sure to serve them at the optimal serving temperature.
